New rendition from bungareyza is out!

One of Indonesia’s most memorable youth romance films, Perahu Kertas, remains close to many hearts.

Adapted from Dewi Lestari’s bestselling novel of the same name, the film stars Maudy Ayunda as Kugi and Adipati Dolken as Keenan.

While the film showcases stellar acting from two beloved stars, it also features a beautiful soundtrack.

Nearly 13 years after the film’s release, rising singer bungareyza has brought one of its most iconic songs, Tahu Diri, back to life with a fresh new take.

Originally written by Dewi Lestari and sung by Maudy Ayunda, the song now gets a heartfelt reinterpretation.

Unintentional Plan from bungareyza

Interestingly, Bunga didn’t expect Tahu Diri to become her next single.

She recalled a visit to Sony Music Indonesia, where she met Keke Kananta, Head of A&R.

He introduced her to the song, and she instantly felt drawn to it.

After going home, she created a video cover and shared it, unbeknownst to her, with Dewi Lestari.

That moment sparked the decision to release Tahu Diri as her newest single.

Theme from “Tahu Diri”

Bunga Reyza Fitri Kurnia, known by her stage name bungareyza, found the lyrics deeply meaningful.

The song explores the emotional confusion of someone whose past love unexpectedly returns, just as they are trying to move on.

She explained that the track reflects the inner conflict many people face when an ex reappears, reigniting emotions they thought were buried.

Bunga believed many listeners could relate to this heartfelt theme.

Production Process

From recording to mixing, the entire production process took only two weeks.

Still, the journey came with challenges.

Remaking a well-loved song meant respecting the original while offering a new interpretation.

She adjusted the key, altered the song’s ending, and added subtle changes to deliver a fresher vibe for today’s listeners.

All without losing the essence that made the original special.

Hopes for The New Version

Born in Cimahi, Bunga expressed hope that listeners would embrace this version with open hearts.

She said she wanted the emotion in her voice to reach people, even if the song feels a little melancholic.

After all, Tahu Diri speaks to those fighting to move on, only to find their past returning unexpectedly.

Singing a remake taught her a great deal.

She studied Maudy Ayunda’s performance and immersed herself in Kugi’s emotions by reading the novel and rewatching Perahu Kertas.

By doing so, she didn’t just sing the song, she aimed to tell the story as both Kugi and herself.

Bunga hopes her version satisfies fans of the original while connecting with a new audience.
