AlphaTheta Shares Fix for Rekordbox USB Issue

AlphaTheta has issued an important notice for users of its rekordbox software who rely on USB devices.

The company brought attention to a growing compatibility issue.

It centers on the gap between newer and older DJ hardware.

Because of this, tracks and playlists do not always appear as expected on different players.

The issue comes from two different export formats in rekordbox.

The software can write data as OneLibrary (formerly Device Library Plus) or as the original Device Library.

Newer units such as the CDJ-3000X, OPUS-QUAD, OMNIS-DUO, and XDJ-AZ only support the newer OneLibrary format.

In contrast, older gear like the CDJ-3000 and XDJ-XZ still rely on the original format.

Because of this split, playlists exported in the older format may appear on some players but not on others.

For example, a USB prepared with Device Library can work on a CDJ-3000 but fail to show up on a CDJ-3000X.

Solution from AlphaTheta

To solve this, AlphaTheta advises users to update rekordbox to version 7.2.11 or later, then export their USB drives again using the correct format.

The company also shared guidance for those who need to convert playlists manually.

In addition, it reassured users that connecting a USB device to a player will not delete music files or playlists.

This notice follows recent firmware issues with the CDJ-3000.

The company had to suspend firmware version 3.30 after DJs reported missing playlists during use.

Many of those problems came from USB drives exported in the older format, which caused files to disappear on certain players.

To address this, the company advised users to reinstall firmware version 3.20 from its official website.

Alongside these updates, the company continues to expand its product line.

The company recently introduced the DJM-V5, which draws inspiration from the warm, high-resolution sound of the flagship DJM-V10.

Earlier this year, it also released the RMX-IGNITE and added Apple Music integration to the CDJ-3000X, giving DJs more flexibility in their workflow.
