KOLKEN Reunites with Original Vocalist Ylur

New formation of KOLKEN

Indonesian rock, pop, and rock ’n roll band KOLKEN has officially announced the return of Ylur, their original frontman.

After more than ten years away from the stage with the band, Ylur now rejoins the latest lineup.

They ready to deliver a new wave of energy while staying true to the band’s musical foundation.

Ylur had played a key role in the band’s early success. His distinct vocal tone and emotionally charged lyrics left a lasting impression on the independent music scene in Indonesia.

The band expressed collective excitement about Ylur’s return. Rucky Markiano, the bassist, emphasized that Ylur’s voice and presence had always been essential to the group’s identity.

Krisnandra Adhiguna, the guitarist, added that this reunion wasn’t just about reliving the past, but about entering a bold new chapter for the band.

Ylur’s first performance with the band after his long hiatus takes place at the EH! TUNESDAY event on June 3.

During the show, the band was sharing the stage with Franki Indrasmoro, also known as Pepeng, the drummer of the band NAIF, along with other notable musicians.

The performance also introduce a symbolic redefinition of the band’s name. Originally an acronym for “Kolor Kendor,” KOLKEN now stands for “Kolor Kenceng!”

Reflecting their renewed spirit and determination, the change signals a revitalized vision for the group.

Linguistically, the word “Kolken” also refers to a Dutch term meaning a reservoir or water container.

The band hopes to embody this meaning metaphorically—as a vessel for pure, transparent, and vital energy through their music.

The band plans to release a new single in early July 2025, marking the official return of Ylur to the recording scene.

This upcoming track blends the melancholic tones of their early work with refined, modern production, delivering a sound that feels familiar yet refreshed for both loyal fans and new listeners.

Founded on May 1, 2010, in Jakarta, the band now consists of:

  • Danel Elang – drums

With this renewed lineup, KOLKEN stands ready to reassert their place in Indonesia’s music landscape—anchored by history but fueled by a powerful new momentum.
