Lucy In The Sky SCBD Closes After 14 Years

Lucy In The Sky closed

Lucy In The Sky has officially confirmed the permanent closure of its SCBD rooftop location.

The venue shared the announcement through its official Instagram account on January 13.

The news quickly reached its audience and longtime visitors.

In that moment, it became clear that a long-standing chapter in Jakarta’s nightlife scene had come to an end.

The closure brings to a close a 14-year journey that began in 2011.

Located in the Sudirman Central Business District, the venue became widely known for its rooftop setting surrounded by office towers.

The venue featured a semi-open design that immediately set it apart.

A glasshouse-style roof covered part of the space, allowing natural light to filter through.

Around it, a garden terrace and hanging plants added a fresh, organic touch.

At the same time, the layout blended indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Together, these elements created a distinctive atmosphere right in the heart of the city.

The Journey of Lucy In The Sky SCBD

Over the years, Lucy In The Sky SCBD built a reputation for diverse and inclusive programming.

The venue hosted everything from house and techno nights to live band performances, karaoke sessions, and even koplo events.

This wide-ranging approach allowed it to attract different communities under one roof.

In addition, the space consistently showed strong support for local talent.

It became more than just a venue. Over time, it grew into a meeting point for crews, artists, and collectives.

This support took shape through a series of recurring events.

Among them were OPTIMAL, Sunset People Project’s Sunday sessions, and Videostarr’s themed singalong nights.

The venue also welcomed notable acts like Dipha Barus, Hugo LX, and Prins Thomas over the years.

In its official statement, the management reflected on the journey they had built over the years.

They noted that the rooftop had operated for more than a decade.

During that time, it became a meaningful part of many people’s lives.

With that in mind, they ultimately made the decision to permanently close the SCBD location.

The Story Continues

They acknowledged that the decision was made with a heavy heart.

Furthermore, they took a moment to express their gratitude. They acknowledged everyone who had been part of the journey.

This included the music team, whose role was key in shaping the venue’s identity.

They also extended their thanks to long-time staff and collaborators who helped keep the space alive over the years.

They also recognized the presence of the venue’s well-known “Lucy cats,” which had quietly become part of the experience for regular visitors.

Although the SCBD rooftop has now closed, the story does not end there.

Lucy In The Sky still maintains its presence in Jakarta. It continues to operate through its location at Senayan Park.

Through this space, the brand remains active within the city’s nightlife landscape.
