The Prodigy celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic single Firestarter.

In a recent Instagram post, members Liam Howlett and Maxim reflected on the track’s journey.

They shared that the song grew naturally and found its own path over time.

They also revisited the early studio sessions.

During that moment, frontman Keith Flint brought an intense burst of energy.

He moved wildly around the space before stepping up to record his first vocal take.

The group explained that this process unfolded in a spontaneous way, without a fixed plan.

In the beginning, the track faced resistance. Several radio stations refused to play it, and support came slowly.

However, the situation soon changed. The song gained momentum on its own and quickly rose to massive popularity across the rave scene.

The group expressed pride in the track’s legacy.

They also highlighted how meaningful it remains, especially in connection to Flint, who passed away in March 2019.

His contribution continues to define the identity and spirit of the record.

Originally released on March 18, 1996, Firestarter served as the lead single from their third album, The Fat of the Land.

The track features a distinctive looped guitar riff written by Kim Deal of The Breeders.

It later reached number one in several European countries, including the UK, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, and Norway.

To mark the milestone, the group recently released a special 30th anniversary vinyl edition.

This version includes an instrumental cut, remixes from Andy C and Empirion, along with refreshed artwork and printed inner sleeves.
