When discussing Tiesto, it’s impossible to ignore the deep roots he has in Trance music.
The Dutch DJ and producer, born Tijs Michiel Verwest, earned many titles.
People calls him “The Greatest DJ of All Time,” “Best DJ of the Last 20 Years,” and “Godfather of EDM.”
His early tracks were anthems that dominated dance floors around the globe.
Who doesn’t know tracks like “Lethal Industry,” “Traffic,” “Flight 643,” “Just Be,” and “Love Comes Again”?
He also co-founded Black Hole Recordings and launched the iconic compilation series In Search of Sunrise.

When Tiesto Step Out of Trance
However, around 2010, he began to step away from the genre.
Leaving Black Hole Recordings and no longer curating In Search of Sunrise, he transitioned into more mainstream EDM sounds to connect with a broader, younger audience.
In 2016, he even introduced a new label, AFTR:HRS, focused on Deep House.
Despite this shift, long-time fans continuously expressed hope that the DJ would revisit the genre that launched his career.
In 2025, those hopes were finally answered.

Returns to Trance Music
During EDC Las Vegas 2025, he stunned the world.
He was delivering a surprise In Search of Sunrise set at the kineticFIELD stage, starting at 4:13 AM.
Timed perfectly with the sunrise.
This marked his first In Search of Sunrise performance in years.
It was widely celebrated as a heartfelt tribute to his trance roots.
The moment was both nostalgic and transformative.
It was bringing back the euphoric, melodic energy that fans had missed for over a decade.
This return to form is part of a larger vision.
Prismatic, Tiesto’s new live concept, is a long-form musical journey that spans his entire caree.
From classic Trance to Deep Melodic House and his recent festival anthems.
He confirmed that Trance is officially back in his setlist, making EDC just the beginning.
The DJ will further solidify his reconnection with the genre by performing at Dreamstate SoCal 2025, a festival dedicated entirely to Trance.
This upcoming appearance will be his debut at the event and a full trance-focused set.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there.
