DESIREE has released a new remix of Nina Simone’s classic track “Four Women,” offering a fresh take on the timeless record.
This release marks the second entry in Verve Records’ year-long Nina Simone remix series, which will roll out monthly throughout 2026.
Earlier, Solomun launched the project with his reinterpretation of “Take Care Of Business.”
In her version, she blends deep house grooves with Simone’s powerful vocal delivery.
As a result, the track moves into a more dancefloor-oriented space while still preserving its emotional weight.
DESIREE explained that she viewed the original song as already complete in its message.

As she explored Nina Simone’s work more deeply, she felt a strong personal connection to it.
When creating the remix, she chose not to alter its meaning.
Instead, she focused on placing it in a new setting where listeners could both move to the rhythm and stay connected to the song’s message.
Overall, the remix balances respect for the original with a modern club approach.
It continues the series’ goal of presenting Nina Simone’s work through new perspectives while keeping its core identity intact.
