The Making of The Song
Kaze shared the story behind Hachikō, revealing that the process started as a casual experiment.
Tobias Jesso Jr. had suggested they try writing a song with Japanese lyrics.
During their chat, Tobias asked about the name of the famous dog from Shibuya.
When Kaze responded with “Hachikō,” Sir Nolan instantly began crafting the beat.

Years later, Kaze watched the film The Tale of Hachikō to finish the song.
He said the melody and lyrics flowed naturally after that.
Since he had never written a song starting from a beat, the process felt completely new to him.
Eventually, he worked with producer 250 to finalize the track.

Rather than focusing on the story’s sadness, Kaze wanted the song to reflect joy and peace.
He described Hachikō as a tribute to loyalty and even hinted that the song represents his fans who have been patiently waiting for his third album.
In Hachikō, Kaze once again explores new sonic territory.
He blends English lyrics with Japanese phrases to create a bilingual energy throughout the track.

Neon-toned melodies shine over danceable drum patterns, and a smooth bassline glides through a disco-inspired rhythm.
Bright synths enhance the chorus, which soars with the instantly memorable line: “You’ve been patiently waiting for me.”
Every element in the song feels crafted for international appeal.
This single follows his 2024 fan-favorite Michi Teyu ku (Overflowing), which has racked up over 90 million streams on Spotify.
The song also gained attention from Billboard and other major media outlets.
