To mark three decades of his music journey, Jimi Multhazam, the iconic vocalist of The Upstairs and MORFEM, has released his debut solo track titled “Kilauanlara.”

More than just a single release, this project comes with a series of special events.

A hearing session, a documentary screening, and an exhibition that showcases the creative process behind the song’s artwork.

Jimi named the entire release celebration after the track itself: “Kilauanlara.”

The event takes place at Bolo Space, Yogyakarta, from June 9 to July 10, 2025.

Over his 30-year career, Jimi has remained consistent in maintaining his artistic identity—whether through The Upstairs, MORFEM, Jimijazz, or Bequiet.

However, this solo project gives him the space to express something entirely personal.

He sees it as a moment where every aspect, from lyrics and arrangement to visual aesthetics, aligns with his vision.

It’s a full-circle celebration of his three-decade-long journey.

Jimi explained that he first planned this solo project during the 2021 pandemic.

However, various commitments forced him to delay it for a few years.

Once he started working on it, he became fully involved in every step—from the arrangement to even deciding small details like drumstick sizes.

Initially, he only wanted to hold a hearing session with the Debarbars community in Jogja. But the idea grew.

He felt it would be exciting to showcase the artwork process as well—and eventually, that evolved into a full exhibition and a documentary.

During the song’s production, Jimi collaborated with several new partners.

One of them, Eriliando Erick—a director and photographer who graduated from the Jakarta Institute of Arts (IKJ)—became intrigued by the project and documented the entire process in a film.

Erick is known for his 2024 documentary “Ibnu Nurwanto – Sang Kayu,” which was nominated for the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).

In 2025, he also held a solo photo exhibition titled “Yang Tertinggal.”

Meanwhile, Her Rachman—who has long worked with Jimi on music videos for The Upstairs and MORFEM—directed the “Kilauanlara” music video.

It will soon be available on major streaming platforms.

Jimi Multhazam celebrates 30 years in music the way he always has—through honesty and loyalty to his vision.

This project is a work born from a light that may not always shine brightly but continues to glow, even through sorrow.
