Mike Posner is revisiting one of the most unexpected dance anthems of the 2010s.

The chart-topping artist has confirmed his upcoming single, I Went Back to Ibiza, which serves as a complete lyrical rework of his breakthrough hit I Took a Pill in Ibiza.

Originally written on his 26th birthday, the confessional track famously referenced the late Avicii.

Now, 12 years later, Posner reflects on how much his life has changed.

He indicated that he feels proud to revisit the original lyrics because they no longer reflect who he is today.

As a result, the new release stands as a marker of personal growth.

While the first song captured disillusionment, the follow-up returns to the same setting with a far different mindset.

This renewed perspective carries extra weight in EDM culture.

The widely celebrated remix by Seeb transformed the original acoustic version into a global festival anthem.

The impact remains massive, with Spotify alone recording around 2.3 billion streams.

Looking back, Posner previously explained in a 2021 interview with EDM.com that Avicii had supported him during some of the lowest points in his career.

He also shared that a real-life trip to Ibiza with the Swedish icon inspired the song’s famous opening concept.

“I Went Back to Ibiza” is scheduled to arrive on streaming platforms on March 6, 2026.
