ArumtaLa has returned with a new single titled “Orang Jakarta.”
Alongside this release, ArumtaLa announced a significant change—Arini Kumara now continues the project solo.
Arini Kumara, a double bassist, serves as the executive producer and creative mind behind all of ArumtaLa’s works.
With a rich musical background, she once led a storytelling project titled “Cerita Fatmawati” in 2018, actively performed in various major orchestras across Indonesia, and taught at a music college in Jakarta.

Change for ArumtaLa
In mid-2025, vocalist Laura Pradipta decided to take an indefinite hiatus from ArumtaLa.
Arini explained that this situation was unexpected. From the start, she had built ArumtaLa as a duo featuring a fixed vocalist.
It was meant to be a space where she could present her music alongside Laura.
However, since Laura now lives in the United States and considering the current conditions there, Arini realized that ArumtaLa needed to continue—even without Laura.

Despite the change, Arini remains optimistic about the future.
She plans to release several songs she has already written, one by one, to contribute to Indonesia’s music scene.
To fill the vocal gap in the meantime, Arini brought in Caecilia—known from 2nd Chance—as an additional vocalist for this latest single.
Arini mentioned that Caecilia’s voice matched the vision as a jazz duo of two women.
While her presence might slightly change ArumtaLa’s image, the music will continue to tell relatable stories and highlight everyday struggles, just like previous releases.

Releasing “Orang Jakarta”
“Orang Jakarta,” composed by Arini Kumara, delivers its signature light jazz style.
The song draws inspiration from common frustrations experienced by Jakarta residents—such as traffic, floods, and social order issues.
Despite these complaints, many people still choose to live in Jakarta. Even with the crowded lifestyle, they remain loyal to the city.
Arini shared that she wrote this song during a period when the hashtag #KaburAjaDulu was trending.

She wanted to present her view that, despite Jakarta’s flaws, it remains our home.
There are still many joyful aspects of the city that people often overlook.
With this song, Arini hopes to encourage Jakarta residents to feel proud of their roots.
Instead of constantly complaining, they should appreciate the place where they live and grow.

Arini expressed her belief that Indonesians need to move away from self-deprecating humor and start loving what they have.
She sees “Orang Jakarta” as a way of reminding listeners to appreciate their home, city, or country.
Arini completed the songwriting process in just two days and recorded the track in a live session.
While the vocals were recorded separately, the bass, drums, and piano were performed live—requiring only two to three takes.
In total, the recording session lasted just three hours.
