Bebe Rexha has reworked Faithless’ iconic track “Insomnia” into her latest single, “New Religion.”

In this new release, Rexha blends the original melody with elements of the late Maxi Jazz’s well-known vocal line about sleeplessness.

Instead of listing Faithless as a featured act, the track credits them as contributors, reflecting a deeper creative connection.

At the same time, the official visual adds another layer to the tribute.

It mixes scenes from the original “Insomnia” video with new footage of Rexha performing in a club environment.

As a result, the video bridges past and present in a seamless way.

Personal Track for Bebe Rexha

Moreover, Rexha described the track as a personal and emotional outlet.

She explained that the song represents a sense of release on the dancefloor and a way to reconnect with music during difficult moments.

She also shared that while writing the track, she went through a challenging period and realized that music remained a constant source of support.

For her, the song serves as a tribute to music itself, capturing the feeling of being fully alive when sound and rhythm take over.

In addition, she expressed deep gratitude to Faithless for allowing her to reinterpret such a defining dance record.

She noted that this opportunity held significant personal meaning.

“Insomnia” Over The Years

Meanwhile, the legacy of “Insomnia” continues to grow.

The track recently reached its 30th anniversary, marking an important moment in its legacy.

To celebrate, surviving members Sister Bliss and Rollo Armstrong took the stage once again.

They marked the occasion with a digital EP release, followed by a special open-air performance in Manchester.

Following that, Tomorrowland’s Symphony of Unity orchestra released its own orchestral rework of the track.

Additionally, Disclosure contributed a remix, showing the track’s continued influence across genres.

Looking ahead, Faithless will also celebrate another milestone.

This year marks 30 years since the release of their debut album Reverence, which originally featured “Insomnia.”

To honor the occasion, the group plans to host an open-air show at Bristol Harbourside.

Overall, Rexha’s “New Religion” highlights how a classic track can evolve while still keeping its emotional core intact.
