Jakarta-based singer-songwriter Alex Teh has officially released her latest single, “blink,” marking the third track from her upcoming debut EP.

She began her musical journey at the age of 10, when her mother gave her her first guitar.

Since then, songwriting has become her most sincere method of expressing emotions.

Her newest single, “blink,” emerged directly from that approach.

Inspiration for Alex Teh New Song

The song draws deep inspiration from a profoundly personal chapter.

Alex witnessed her uncle’s four-year battle with illness, during which her father stood as the family’s unwavering pillar—caring for his comatose brother while keeping the family grounded.

The title “blink” refers to the only form of communication her uncle could manage during those final years.

According to Alex, they created a code: two blinks to say “yes,” one blink to express a request.

That poignant simplicity became the song’s emotional anchor.

Originally, Alex wrote the lyrics as a poem, not intending to transform them into a song.

However, as she reflected on her father’s resilience throughout this difficult period, she decided to compose a melody around the poem as a heartfelt gift.

She explained that the song encapsulates how her father endured pain and emerged emotionally stronger.

In crafting “blink,” Alex collaborated with notable creatives in Indonesia’s music scene.

She brought in Will Mara as producer and Kamga Mo as vocal director, with Ivan Iponk managing the post-production process at Roemahiponk.
