James Kennedy Drops Tech House Rework “Try Again” on Hexagon

James Kennedy opens 2026 with Try Again, a sharp tech-house rework of the 2000 classic by Aaliyah.

The track is out now on Hexagon Records, the imprint founded by Don Diablo.

The new version preserves the spirit of the original while pushing the sound firmly into club territory.

Kennedy increases the tempo and adds rougher textures, then layers crisp tech-house grooves designed for late-night peak-time sets.

As a result, the track lands as a tight, dancefloor-ready release that reflects the clearer artistic direction he has been shaping in the studio.

Kennedy shared that he feels excited to release the music he has been developing.

He also expressed that Hexagon was the ideal label to launch this new chapter.

In addition, he shared that his respect for Don Diablo goes back many years.

He has followed the producer’s work for a long time.

Because of that connection, he said he is especially excited for listeners to finally hear the track.

In recent years, Kennedy has expanded his profile far beyond reality television.

His breakout on Vanderpump Rules helped open major opportunities.

Since then, he has performed at events such as Neon Carnival at Coachella, Stagecoach Festival (Diplo’s HonkyTonk), EDC, North Coast Music Festival, and Chasing Summer.

He has also played major venues including Exchange LA, Rebel Toronto, and Echostage.

Meanwhile, he continues to hold residencies at LIV at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Big Night Entertainment Group in New England, and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
