Yves V is one of our favorite artists at Tomorrowland each year.
Every set feels special and powerful.
So when Colosseum Club booked him as the INSANE 2017 headliner, we were excited to sit down and chat with him.
Can you tell us more about your latest single “Stay”? About the process and why you collaborated with Matthew Hill and Betsy Blue?
The idea was I started with Matthew Hill.
It sounds like a new name, but a few years ago I did a few tracks like Indigo and Fever together with Fafaq.
Now, Fafaq changed his name to Matthew Hill.
We made the track almost a year ago, during summer.
It’s more radio-minded, Spotify-minded, summer track.
When it got released, the feedbacks were amazing. To be honest I’m very happy with it.
I love the vibe and for me it’s like summer.
For the vocal, in the beginning, somebody else wrote the vocal.
Through my publishing, I met Betsy Blue. She did the vocal and to be honest, I’m very happy with it.
You hold residency at Tomorrowland for 12 years. Is there any memorable moment so far during those time?
So many! I started from beginning.
The first time I played at Tomorrowland they were like a thousand people in front of me.
I was playing with vynil back in the days.
I remember there was lot of the wind and it moves my needle during the set (laughs).
It’s actually crazy because if you see now how big it became. It’s well known all over the world.
I’m just happy to be part of it all the way from the beginning.
I really saw the evolution from the normal festival to the best festival in the world.
It’s amazing.
Who is Yves V outside the stage?
I started DJing when I was 15 years old, and it’s already a long time.
About 5-6 years ago, I was combining DJing and teaching.
I was a teacher, that was my job.
Besides that, music is my passion.
When I sleep, when I wake up, it’s all about music.
That’s what people know me.
If I’m free, I like to relax at home or have drinks with my friends.
What is the meaning of year 2017 for you?
For me it was amazing year. I was so busy and had a hectic schedule.
Summer was crazy in Europe.
Before and after Summer, I’ve been doing lots of Asia shows.
I’m just lucky to travel the world with my music and it keeps on going.
I have a lot of new music ready, I have new release every month.
That was pretty much my year.
You’ve been in the industry for so long. Do you have any regrets, career-wise?
I started as a DJ when I was 15 years old.
Now I wish I start producing at that age, as well.
I started quite late for producing, so I need to make up sometimes.
I’m still learning, actually.
Besides that, nothing I regret.
It’s a journey.
Whatever I did, whatever I did wrong, I have no regrets.

After The Interview Straight To Performance
After the interview, the conversation continued casually.
Yves V immediately lit up when he heard the news.
Colosseum Club had transformed its main hall into a skate park.
Ramps and all.
He couldn’t wait to see it for himself.
That night, he delivered an energetic set that kept the crowd moving until the end.
Naturally, the hope remains to see Yves V return to Jakarta again in the future.
