The Jansen have released their latest single, “andai kita tumbuh besar nanti,” the second preview of their upcoming album Romantisasi Impulsif.

The release follows the band’s previous single, “bila cinta adalah sebuah propaganda (wo ai ni),” as they continue building toward their new record.

Written by bassist Adji Pamungkas, the song draws inspiration from various literary works, including Remy Sylado’s novel Orexas.

Through its lyrics, Adji combines ideas from his reading with shared experiences that many people can relate to.

The Jansen Explore Childhood Trauma and Healing

According to Adji, the song grew from his belief that childhood trauma is a universal experience.

Every family faces its own struggles, although the circumstances may differ.

Despite its emotional subject matter, “andai kita tumbuh besar nanti” is not intended to blame parents.

Instead, the lyrics follow the perspective of a character named Johan, who expresses anger while holding on to hope for a different future.

The song encourages younger generations to break harmful family patterns instead of repeating them.

Adji explained that greater access to psychology, parenting resources, and mental health awareness gives today’s generation the opportunity to create positive change.

He also revealed that the word “tumbuh” (grow) became the foundation of the song because it represents an ongoing process of personal development.

For him, the goal is not simply to accept past trauma but to end its cycle.

The single draws inspiration from the LA Indiefest scene. Monkey to Millionaire, The Sastro, Zeke and The Popo also influenced its sound.

Float and The Banery contributed to that inspiration as well.

It also reflects the soundtracks of Indonesian films such as Janji Joni, Gie, and 3 Hari untuk Selamanya.

The song features bright guitar melodies. Energetic rhythms reinforce its emotional message.

Mid-2000s alternative rock arrangements preserve The Jansen’s signature energy.

Vocalist Bani said the lyrics immediately reminded him of a child’s determination to prove that their chosen path would not be meaningless.

He also found similarities between the story and his own life, which helped shape the song’s vocal melodies.

Continuing Their Next Album Era

Through “andai kita tumbuh besar nanti,” The Jansen continue using straightforward songwriting to reflect the realities faced by today’s younger generation.

Their previous album, Banal Semakin Binal, won Best Rock Album at the AMI Awards.

The band hopes the single will build on that success. It delivers energetic alternative rock.

Its lyrics also explore growth and resilience.

“andai kita tumbuh besar nanti” is now available on digital streaming platforms alongside an official lyric video directed by Yustinus Kristianto.

Meanwhile, Romantisasi Impulsif will arrive digitally on July 22, 2026.

Physical editions will follow later. P-Vine Records in Japan will release the CD and vinyl versions.

Miles Records in Malaysia will handle the cassette edition.
