Markus Schulz is back with In Search Of Sunrise 22.
Over the years, In Search Of Sunrise has grown beyond a traditional mix-compilation series.
The project has become a musical space for listeners seeking wonder, beauty, and discovery through constantly evolving sounds.
With Markus Schulz now fully responsible for the mixes and overall creative direction, the series enters another phase.
He continues to build on its established foundation while taking the concept toward new musical territory.
For Schulz, leading In Search Of Sunrise offers the opportunity to create a different musical story every year.
Although each journey ultimately leads toward sunrise, he sees the path to that destination as something that should never remain the same.
The Awakening Starts the Journey
For the second year in a row, In Search Of Sunrise will arrive through three separate releases during the summer.
Each installment gives its own section of the journey room to develop and establish its identity.
The first release, The Awakening, arrives on August 5.
It brings together progressive house, melodic techno, and cinematic electronica across 18 carefully selected and seamlessly mixed tracks.
The mix moves from twilight toward first light.
Its musical direction focuses on subtle contrasts and creates a sense of anticipation for what comes next.

Markus Schulz Expands the In Search Of Sunrise Sound
The Awakening features music from a wide range of artists, including Above & Beyond, Jerome Isma-Ae, Joris Voorn, French 79, VER:WEST, JES, Paul Oakenfold, Solarstone, Matt Fax, and Alex M.O.R.P.H.
Schulz also contributes several productions to the mix. His Dakota project appears with “Edge of Morning,” while his latest single “Dive” also joins the tracklist.
He further introduces Aeridan, an In Search Of Sunrise-specific alias, through “Catalina (Interlude).”
The mix reaches another highlight with the return of Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz, and Grace’s “Not Over Yet.”
A Musical Journey Built on Discovery
Schulz sees The Awakening as the foundation for the rest of the summer journey.
The mix introduces ideas and musical connections that can develop further across the following releases.
The tracklist brings together established records with newer discoveries.
Schulz also highlights the opportunity to place familiar artists in unexpected settings and create new connections between different sounds.
The inclusion of Dakota, the return of Above & Beyond to the series, and the introduction of Aeridan all reflect that approach.
For Schulz, each track earns its place based on how it contributes to the overall journey rather than simply the name attached to it.
The next chapters will continue with Nirvana, followed by Nocturnal Voyage, which will serve as the closing party of the In Search Of Sunrise 22 journey.
The final installment will also arrive with complete vinyl and CD editions of the compilation.
