
Shoegaze unit Kahlo from Jember has officially released their latest single titled “Belief”.
Kahlo was formed in 2023 and is fronted by two core members: Hansen in vocals/bass and Miko in guitar.
Even though being a duo, Kahlo able to craft a dense and atmospheric soundscape.

“Belief” marks Kahlo’s second release following their debut single “Breakfast”. They continues their sonic exploration into dreamy, fuzzy, and emotional territory.
What makes this single special is that Kahlo handled the entire production process themselves. The process of songwriting, composition, and recording to mixing, all was done independently by Hansen and Miko.
“Belief” carries an emotional reflection about the distance that forms when someone refuses to accept reality. The song was written from the perspective of someone witnessing the freeze in acknowledgement.

It narrates the inner exhaustion caused by broken promises. Furthermore, it also offering space to understand that not everything can be saved—and that’s okay.
With lyrics like “You say the one thing I can’t forget” and “Say goodbye to all this sonnet”, the track captures a subtle sadness wrapped in a warmth of lingering hope.
“Belief” doesn’t arrive in anger—it gives feeling of calm, yet deeply touching.

The song’s noise resonates with anyone who’s ever struggled with denial—whether from others or within themselves. To enhance song’s emotional depth, the “Belief” artwork was created by Christian Edward.
He managed to visually capture the sonic essence of the track.
Kahlo is one of the few young bands from Jember bringing the shoegaze genre to the local public with a serious yet organic approach.
With a strong DIY spirit and the courage to be honest through sound, Kahlo continues to assert themselves as one of the most compelling music projects in the region today.
