As they approach their 25th anniversary, MALIQ & D’Essentials celebrate the spirit of movement, exploration, and new possibilities with their latest single, Arah Labuh.
The track also opens the door to an upcoming exhibition and album, scheduled for release in November.
Written by Widi Puradiredja and Indah Wisnuwardhana alongside the rest of the band, Arah Labuh encourages listeners to move forward with courage.
It reminds them that they do not need to have all the answers from the start.
It reflects the belief that every step brings experiences and stories worth living.
This spirit comes through from the opening lyrics, which invite listeners to reach for the farthest stars.
MALIQ & D’Essentials Find Direction Through Exploration
Arah Labuh uses metaphors of stars, oceans, and places to anchor. It captures the desire to look beyond the horizon and try new things.
The song also encourages listeners to keep moving, even when the path ahead remains unclear.
The song also acknowledges that doubt and missteps are part of the journey.
Rather than dwelling on uncertainty, MALIQ & D’Essentials offer a warm and grounded perspective.
Life does not have to unfold perfectly to be worth enjoying. Sometimes, all it takes is the courage to take the next step.
This message reflects the band’s own journey.
Nearly a quarter of a century after they first began, MALIQ & D’Essentials continue to evolve alongside generations of listeners.
They have explored different musical styles while preserving the distinctive character that keeps their work relevant.

Arah Labuh serves as the gateway to MALIQ & D’Essentials’ upcoming exhibition and album.
Together, these projects expand on the stories of growth, encounters, and creative exploration that shape the next chapter of the band’s journey.
The album, scheduled for release on November 11, features collaborations with Bilal Indrajaya, Perunggu, and Rhoma Irama.

They also create room for a broader dialogue while showing how MALIQ & D’Essentials continue to find new ways to grow without losing their identity.
Musically, Arah Labuh retains the warm, organic character that has long defined MALIQ & D’Essentials.
Rich vocal harmonies, dynamic instrumentation, and fluid arrangements create a sound that feels open and full of energy.
At this stage of their journey, Arah Labuh feels like a marker of change.
It is not about looking back, but about making room for the stories still to come as the band moves toward 2027.
Ultimately, finding a place to anchor does not always mean reaching the final destination.
Sometimes, it means finding the courage to set sail once again.
