After releasing “Datang Tepat Waktu” on June 20, she follows it up with a new single.
She wrote “Berat Rasanya” in April and recorded it in June, only one to two weeks after completing her previous session.
Once the mixing and mastering process wrapped, the song became ready for its September release.
For Meiska, the entire timeline felt ideal because it was neither rushed nor dragged out. As a result, she believed the final outcome sounded more polished.

The Creative Process from Meiska
True to its title, the soloist from Denpasar explained that “Berat Rasanya” grew from a familiar kind of heartbreak.
The story follows a relationship that falls apart after one partner’s attitude begins to change.
She described a situation where someone realizes their partner no longer seems interested.
In the end, this person chooses to walk away because the relationship hasn’t reached the maturity needed to move forward.
She reflected that when something can no longer be saved, separating for mutual good becomes the better choice.
She noted that the inspiration came during a moment when she felt empty and alone, thinking about a peaceful breakup.
Situations like this, she admitted, often happen around her, and she may have gone through something similar herself.
When she shared the early version of the song, Sony Music Indonesia immediately supported it as her next single even though the lyrics were still incomplete.
This created a challenge for Meiska because a short break had caused her to lose some ideas, making it harder to reconnect with the song’s theme.
However, with help from her label team, she eventually finished writing it and prepared it for recording.
One thing she enjoys about this new track is its band-driven sound.
Although it still carries the theme of heartbreak, she feels the arrangement gives it a different energy compared to her more mellow sad songs.
She believes that “Berat Rasanya” will bring a lighter, yet emotional atmosphere when performed live, making it easy for audiences to sing along.
She even compared its vibe to Taylor Swift’s band-style tracks, and among local acts, she felt it shared similarities with Geisha.

Hope from New Song
Meiska, who wanted to explore a touch of light R&B in this release, hopes that “Berat Rasanya” satisfies her listeners’ longing for her signature heartbreak songs.
She wants it to accompany them during emotional moments and become a song they can sing together at her shows.
As for concerns about being labeled a singer who only performs heartbreak tracks, she said she has no worries.
She sees it as her strength, delivering emotional stories through sad songs.
If people associate her music with heartbreak, she believes that is her true artistic DNA and the place where audiences can always find “Meiska.”
