Balearic Trance takes center stage in Hypnotised presents Balearic Trance, a compilation that captures the spirit of late ’90s club and holiday culture.
During that era, many music fans who loved both nightlife and travel often found themselves in the Balearic Islands.
This setting, along with the rising popularity of trance, helped the genre grow into a global movement.
Even so, its origins were far from obvious.
The sound quietly took form in unexpected places, including Café del Mar, a venue known more for ambient music than dancefloor energy.
Early on, the concept blended chillout textures with rhythmic beats.
Although this mix seemed unusual at first, it quickly proved to be a powerful formula on the dancefloor.

Inside Hypnotised presents Balearic Trance
Some listeners believe the genre truly emerged when Chicane added a kick drum to his iconic track “Offshore.”
However, the compilation Hypnotised – Balearic Trance opens with “Already There,” a track that sets a reflective tone before the journey unfolds.
From there, the album moves forward with a clear sense of direction.
Soon, classic tracks begin to define its nostalgic core.

In addition, York’s “Reachers of Civilization” appears in its well-known remix by Rank 1, strengthening the album’s emotional pull.
As the compilation progresses, it shifts toward more atmospheric sounds.
Ferry Corsten’s “Air” captures a breezy coastal feel.
Meanwhile, Tiësto’s Summerbreeze Mix of “Caught Me Running” by Jaimy & Kenny D highlights the genre’s warm and melodic identity.

In turn, Solarstone’s remix of “Under the Sun” deepens the album’s nostalgic tone.
The rhythm then intensifies with “Yimanya” by Filterheadz, adding a more driving energy.
While some credit Chicane for shaping the genre, many fans trace its roots back to “Café Del Mar” by Energy 52.
In the final Outdoor section, the album opens with Michael Woods’ remix, which reconnects with its ambient origins.
