Yovie & Nuno have released a new version of “Kamu Bukan Kekasihku,” 25 years after the song first appeared.

This time, the band collaborates with three young solo artists: Meiska, Prinsa Mandagie, and Aruma.

Together, they reinterpret the classic hit from a female point of view.

The remake offers a fresh perspective while preserving the emotional connection that made the original song memorable.

By shifting the narrative, the new version explores how the same story can take on a different meaning when told through women’s voices.

Yovie & Nuno Reimagine a Classic Hit

Guitarist Muchamad Ahadiyat, better known as Kang Diat, said the project began with a simple question.

He wondered how “Kamu Bukan Kekasihku” would sound if it were performed from a woman’s perspective instead of a man’s.

He believed the change would naturally create a different emotional interpretation.

The collaboration was originally planned as separate projects with each singer.

However, during rehearsals for Yovie & Nuno’s 25th anniversary concert, Meiska, Prinsa Mandagie, and Aruma showed strong chemistry.

That convinced the band to bring them together for a single release.

Lead vocalist Adi Julian said the decision also reflected Yovie Widianto’s creative instinct, which encouraged the group to pursue the unexpected combination.

Three Distinct Voices Unites

The band believes the project’s greatest strength lies in the individual interpretation each singer brings to the song.

Although they perform the same composition, their different vocal styles create unique emotional colors.

Kang Diat said the biggest challenge involved dividing the vocal parts.

The arrangement needed to showcase each singer’s character while preserving the unity of the song and maintaining the signature sound of Yovie & Nuno.

The collaboration has also inspired discussions about developing a future project under the name “JELITA,” which could eventually grow into a mini album.

A New Generation Discovers “Kamu Bukan Kekasihku”

Yovie & Nuno welcome comparisons with the 2001 original.

The band hopes those comparisons will encourage longtime fans to revisit the classic version while introducing the song to a new generation of listeners.

They also hope the remake presents a fresh perspective on modern relationships.

According to the band, changing social dynamics and digital communication have reshaped how people view love and commitment.

They have also changed how people remember relationships, even when those relationships do not last.

The new version of “Kamu Bukan Kekasihku,” featuring Meiska, Prinsa Mandagie, and Aruma, is now available on major digital streaming platforms.
