TIDAL has introduced a new artificial intelligence policy.
The new rules require transparency labels for AI-generated music and limit royalty payments to works created by human artists.
The streaming platform published the updated policy on 29 June.
They described it as a living document that will continue evolving as AI technology and industry standards develop.
TIDAL Limits Royalties to Human-Created Music
Under the new policy, TIDAL will only pay royalties for original music that people write, produce, and perform.
TIDAL said it may reconsider how AI-assisted music is monetized in the future.
That could happen if creators use properly licensed AI models and the industry establishes broader standards.
The company also confirmed it will not prohibit AI-generated music from the platform.
Instead, it defines AI-generated content as music that is entirely or substantially created through generative artificial intelligence.
According to the platform, artists should remain free to use AI tools creatively, while listeners should have the ability to decide what type of music they want to hear.
At the same time, the platform said AI-generated releases will be subject to stricter content integrity standards.
Beginning in mid-July, the platform will display a dedicated icon on music identified as fully AI-generated.
The company also plans to extend the labeling system to tracks that are substantially created with AI.
The platform will also require creators and distributors to disclose AI involvement during the submission process.
The new transparency measures align with similar initiatives introduced by platforms such as Apple Music and Traxsource.

The Policy to Protects Artists
TIDAL Executive Vice President Tony Gervino said the company supports technological innovation.
Instead, the policy protects and rewards human creativity while preserving meaningful connections between artists and their audiences.
He added that many users do not want TIDAL to recommend or expose them to music created entirely by artificial intelligence.
TIDAL also confirmed that the new policy will apply to TIDAL Upload, its self-service distribution platform for independent artists.
