Dee Lestari has long been recognized as a prolific singer and songwriter in Indonesia.
Her musical journey began during her years with Rida Sita Dewi from 1995 to 2003 and continued into her solo career with the album Out of Shell in 2006.
Moreover, her creative breakthrough arrived in 2007 through the Rectoverso project.
From that era, “Malaikat Juga Tahu” emerged and slowly grew into a modern classic.
Over time, the song resonated widely and has since been performed by countless artists.
After that milestone, Dee continued to shape the Indonesian music scene.
She wrote hit songs for many of the country’s leading performers.
Among them are Marcell, Raisa, Ariel NOAH, Andien, and Titi DJ.
In 2021, Dee expanded her collaborative reach through the Rapijali Book Soundtrack.
The project brought her together with major names such as Iwan Fals, Bunga Citra Lestari, Mawar Eva, Adikara, Mikha Angelo, and Barsena Bestandhi.
Through this work, she once again proved her ability to connect stories and music across generations.

Shifting Focus for Dee Lestari
However, Dee’s strong reputation as a bestselling author gradually overshadowed her presence as a solo singer.
For 17 years, she stepped away from releasing a full-length solo album.
Her attention was devoted to writing, a path she pursued with deep commitment.
Over time, that focus shaped her reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading literary voices.
In 2024, a personal loss changed everything.
After her father passed away, Dee experienced deep grief.
One quiet moment at home led her to sing for comfort, using a simple setup with her laptop and speakers.
At that point, she felt a shift. Singing made her feel alive again.
Night after night, she continued this ritual, and over time, it not only helped her heal but also rekindled her love for music.
As a result, Dee made a firm decision to return to singing and create a new album.
That intention will come to life in 2025.
With the support of her management team, DEE Lestari is stepping into a new chapter.
She works closely with Arie Dagienkz, Riko Prayitno of Mocca, Bayu Fajri, and Anthono.
Together, they are preparing the release of her long-awaited third solo album.
The new chapter will begin with a lead single titled “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta,” marking a heartfelt return to the world of music.
