Indonesian indie band Float has spent more than two decades weaving harmony into life through music, and now they’re back with something new.
Float has already released “Emily” and “Dimabuk Cahaya.”
Now, the band prepares to launch their third single, titled “The Mirror Song (Constant Changes).”
This new track isn’t just another piece of music.
It stands as an emotional record celebrating the process of growing up and accepting who you are.
Musically, “The Mirror Song (Constant Changes)” plays as a refreshing anomaly in Float’s discography.
The track arrives with a strongly upbeat tempo, delivering energy that feels fun and spirited. Timur (drummer) calls it a new kind of exploration.
He describes it as possibly the fastest tempo across all of Float’s songs, a companion piece to “Stupido Ritmo” through Binsar’s bassline.
He calls it a lot of fun, and says he can’t wait to play it live.

The Lyrics Behind The Melody
Beneath its cheerful tone, the song still carries Float’s signature poetic lyric DNA.
Hotma “Meng” Roni Simamora (vocalist) and Binsar Tobing (bassist) led that collaboration.
The opening lines, “Some of life’s changes / Hidden from your sight / Take shape in years / Too close for your eyes,” reflect on how people often fail to notice the evolution happening within themselves.
Meng explains that the lyrics tell the story of internal change, a process so slow that we often never even feel it happening.
All the lessons from everyday life prepare us, he says, until one day we face a problem we thought we couldn’t handle, and it turns out we can.
The Story Behind New Single from Float
The theme of acceptance and moving forward runs deep for David Qlintang (guitarist).
For him, the song serves as a personal reminder of his journey raising his son, Arel, who has ADHD.
David explains that the song answers his worries about the future.
He says there’s no point overthinking what’s ahead; you just have to keep moving forward.
That mindset, he adds, keeps him and probably other parents going.
As a companion for Floatmates along their journey, Float weaves an encouraging mantra into the chorus lyrics: “Break a leg, give a shot / When in doubt, take a break / I’m here to listen.”
Ria Septiani’s grand choir arrangement reinforces that message.
Once again, Float proves it always offers a safe space to reflect, rest for a moment, and rise back up.
