Manipol has officially released its debut EP, “Maximize the Minimum,” marking a major milestone for the Bekasi-based alternative rock band.
The six-track project reflects the band’s journey of overcoming limited resources, time, and challenges while staying committed to making music.
The release also represents a new chapter for the trio following its rebranding and partnership with Heavy Rain Records.
Manipol Begins a New Chapter
Formed eight years ago in Bekasi, Manipol consists of Martin (vocals, guitar), Denny (bass), and Agung (guitar, backing vocals).
The band joined independent label Heavy Rain Records in 2024, a roster that also includes The Rain and Private Number.
As part of the partnership, the group decided to retire its original name, Mexican Seafood, and adopt Manipol instead.
Martin explained that the band’s new name came from the motorcycle engine component “manifold.”
Although it carries no specific meaning, he felt the word sounded catchy and was inspired by the importance of the mechanical part.
Manipol Turns Challenges Into Inspiration
Before releasing the EP, Manipol introduced three singles: “Alasan Kosong,” “Agitasi,” and “Hukum Alam.”
The band sees “Maximize the Minimum” as proof that creative limitations do not have to prevent meaningful work.
According to Martin, the EP reflects the band’s determination to make the most of every obstacle they faced.
Despite limited time and resources, the members remained committed to completing the project together.
Denny shared the same outlook, saying the band believes nothing is impossible as long as they continue supporting one another and enjoying the creative process.

From Creative Break to Debut EP
Following the release of “Hukum Alam” in 2025, Manipol experienced a period of uncertainty.
The band temporarily paused its activities after struggling to maintain momentum.
The members eventually revisited an earlier goal of releasing a mini album.
That commitment encouraged them to finish material they had already recorded.
Agung explained that the band had completed recordings for six songs before the project stalled.
Budget and scheduling constraints delayed the mixing and mastering process.
Once the members reunited, they selected the tracks that would become the band’s debut EP.
Alongside the previously released singles, “Maximize the Minimum” introduces three new songs: “Cara Dia,” “Mati Aja Lo,” and “Terbuai Ekspektasi.”
Inside the Tracks
“Alasan Kosong” was written during Manipol’s earlier lineup. The track centers on a person caught in a difficult situation. They refuse to face their problems and keep making excuses instead. Eventually, their pride gets the better of them.
“Agitasi” explores anger toward life’s realities. The track takes inspiration from 1990s alternative rock and grunge. Its driving drums and layered guitars bring back the energy of that period.
“Hukum Alam” came together while Martin was on his way to a rehearsal session. Inspired by 1990s alternative rock, the track features straightforward lyrics, memorable guitar riffs, and energetic drumming.
“Cara Dia” shifts the focus toward social criticism. Prominent bass lines and Martin’s emotional vocals drive the song. Its lyrics explore greed among those in power and the oppression faced by ordinary people.
“Mati Aja Lo” features Ipul Bahri of The Rain. The collaboration combines powerful guitar arrangements with hard-hitting drums while delivering a message about resilience. The song encourages listeners to rely on their own strength instead of depending on others during difficult times.
“Terbuai Ekspektasi” closes the EP with another guitar-driven alternative rock track. Its lyrics warn against placing unrealistic expectations on life, reminding listeners that disappointment often follows impossible hopes.
Looking Ahead
For Manipol, completing “Maximize the Minimum” is a source of pride after a long journey filled with challenges.
The band hopes the EP will find a lasting place among Indonesian music listeners and introduce more audiences to its brand of alternative rock.
“Maximize the Minimum” is now available on digital streaming platforms, while the band’s official YouTube channel also features content supporting the release.
