“Nuru Mpya” went a step further, landing Record Of The Week on ABGT686.
The EP itself dropped on 29 July 2026 through Anjunabeats, with extended mixes of both tracks.
It’s a release that’s earned its momentum. The two tracks just don’t earn it equally.
Nuru Mpya: the one that surprises
“Nuru Mpya” opens like it’s about to go operatic.
The intro leans on a soprano-style vocal that suggests something grand and classical. Then it shifts.
The vocal turns light, almost conversational, and switches into Swahili.
That pivot is the track’s best move: it sets up one expectation and delivers something more interesting instead.
The energy holds from start to finish. The build stays tight, and it lands right at the drop, the kind that gets a room moving on the first listen.
That said, it’s worth naming the bias here directly: the track won us over instantly, which makes it harder to spot flaws on a first pass.
Even accounting for that, the writing, the vocal turn, and the sustained energy hold up well enough to back a 4.5 out of 5.
Melody Beneath: familiar ground from Ronski Speed
“Melody Beneath” plays it safer. It’s a trance vocal track that sits comfortably next to plenty of others in the genre right now.
Listeners who already know Ronski Speed’s catalogue will hear his usual craft in it.
Newer trance listeners, though, may not find much here that stands apart from the pack.
That’s not a knock on the production. It’s clean, well-paced, and does what a solid trance vocal cut is supposed to do on a Group Therapy tracklist.
