Christian Burns stands on the cusp of “Waking Up In A Northern Town,” his follow-up to the critically-acclaimed 2021 LP “Love Songs From Suburbia.”
The UK-born, US-based singer-songwriter now lays down the album’s final single preface.
In doing so, he’s chosen this moment to put the focus squarely on Banaati.
Banaati stands as the most significant co-production element behind “Northern Town’s” development.
“Fall To You,” “I Will Follow,” “Strangers,” and others have already entered “Northern Town’s” ledger.
“Embers,” though, may prove to be the album’s ultimate single personification.
Banaati refers to Benjamin Banaati, the Swedish producer.
In a remarkably short period of time, he has etched close to a dozen releases onto Monstercat’s discography.
In Benjamin, Christian found a stylistic likemind, one he brought in to shape “Embers” and, more broadly, the album itself.
Benjamin’s backing plays out as a masterclass in transcendent space, knowing just as well when to delay or strip away as when to add.

Christian Burns Chases a Fading Flame
Christian’s lyrics add further weight to that atmosphere.
They capture a desire, and perhaps an urgent one, to rekindle a fading relationship before time runs out.
His words strike a poignant balance between reflective lament and unstinting hope.
Throughout, they use the elemental imagery of “Embers” to anchor its high emotional stakes.
Banaati’s studio handles the chilled end of the room, while York’s rework traces more of a progressive-trance outline around the track.
Through hi-hat ride, hunting horn drift, and carefully placed snare drive, “Embers” slow-burns across more than nine minutes and refuses to die.

The Original Mix releases today across all major streaming and sales sites, with the York Remix debuting on June 12. The album follows on June 19.
