Dee Lestari has long earned recognition as a prolific singer and songwriter.

Her music career first gained wide attention during her time with Rida Sita Dewi between 1995 and 2003.

That period marked her early rise in the industry. Later, she continued the journey as a solo artist.

She took that step with the release of her album Out of Shell in 2006.

Soon after, her creative breakthrough with Rectoverso in 2007 left a lasting impact that still resonates today.

One of its standout songs, “Malaikat Juga Tahu,” has since become a modern classic, performed by many different artists.

Over the years, Dee has continued to write hit songs for some of Indonesia’s biggest names, including Marcell, Raisa, Ariel NOAH, Andien, and Titi DJ.

In 2021, she became part of the Rapijali Book Soundtrack project.

Through this collaboration, she worked alongside several major figures in Indonesian music.

The list included Iwan Fals, Bunga Citra Lestari, Mawar Eva, Adikara, Mikha Angelo, and Barsena Bestandhi.

Dee Lestari Embrace Her Singing Side

However, Dee’s strong reputation as a bestselling author has often overshadowed her presence as a singer.

As a solo artist, she has not released a full album in the past 17 years.

During that time, she made a conscious choice.

She focused her energy on building her career as one of Indonesia’s leading writers.

In 2024, the passing of her father brought deep personal loss.

During a quiet moment alone at home, Dee decided to comfort herself by singing.

She set up a simple karaoke system using her laptop and speakers and began to sing.

Almost immediately, she felt a change. Her emotions felt alive again.

Night after night, she continued singing for weeks.

This personal ritual not only helped her process grief, but it also rekindled her love for singing.

From that moment, Dee made a clear decision.

She wanted to return fully to music and create a new album.

New Song in 2025

That intention became reality in 2025.

With support from her management team (Arie Dagienkz, Riko Prayitno of Mocca, Bayu Fajri, and Anthono), Dee began work on a new record.

Her third solo album will open with a lead single titled “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta.”

Through her signature lyrical style, which feels both playful and heartfelt, direct yet poetic, Dee explores the tension between logic and emotion.

The song reflects how logic tries to protect the heart from pain by controlling feelings, while the heart always speaks with honesty.

Feelings, after all, cannot truly be controlled.

In the end, falling in love often happens even when it is not planned or when circumstances are far from ideal.

For this single, Dee collaborated with arranger Rendy Pandugo and vocal director Teddy Adhitya.

Together, they created a warm and layered sound, rich with guitar textures and soothing vocal harmonies.

The result offers a listening experience that gently touches both the ears and the heart.

Recently, Dee shared early previews of her new material during intimate showcases titled Bocor Tipis in Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

“(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” received a positive response from audiences.

Dee hopes the single can serve as a refreshing introduction to this new chapter.

It marks her return to music as an experienced singer-songwriter.

At the same time, it answers the anticipation of many listeners who have been waiting for her new work.

“(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” is now available on all major streaming platforms.

If everything goes as planned, Dee also intends to release another single soon as part of her upcoming third solo album.
