The Brandals have released their second single, Di Pinggir Marjin, following their earlier track Jari Kasar, which came out on September 30, 2025.
This new release builds momentum toward their upcoming album and shows a different side of the band’s sound.
The track takes the form of a ballad. However, it still carries a strong social message.
Through its lyrics, the band highlights the struggles of the working class, especially those living in urban areas.
Feelings of anxiety, frustration, and hope continue to shape the narrative.
These emotions grow under the pressure of daily life and an increasingly uncertain political climate.
While their first single leaned toward a slower and more melodic tone, the band has not softened its stance.
The Brandals maintain their firm identity as a voice of protest.

Creative Process from The Brandals
Their lyrics continue to reflect the realities of marginalized urban communities, keeping their message direct and intense.
For this release, the band worked with Jonathan Mono, who contributed as both collaborator and co-producer alongside Jonathan Pardede.
In addition, Karel William played drums on the track.
The group recorded the song in October 2024, before Ghani Noorputrawan officially joined as the band’s new drummer later that year.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Aswin added a distinct layer by playing the toy piano.
Choosing to release a ballad marks a bold move for The Brandals.
The band has spent nearly 25 years in Indonesia’s independent music scene, and they have consistently avoided following industry trends.
Rather than seeking comfort or market approval, they continue to challenge both themselves and their audience.
They push creative boundaries and resist expectations with every release.
Di Pinggir Marjin forms part of the material prepared for their upcoming album, which they plan to release in mid-2026.
As they move forward, the band continues to evolve while staying true to their core message.
The current lineup of The Brandals includes Eka Rahyadi Annash (vocals), Mulyadi Natakusumah (guitar), Radhit Syaharzam Almatsier (bass), and Ghani Noorputrawan (drums).
