The change comes from his desire to explore songs about falling in love after spending much of his catalogue dealing with sadness and tears.
Kaleb J Turns “Gerilya Cinta” Into a Love Story
“Gerilya Cinta” is more than a conventional love song.
The title has an unusual inspiration. It comes from the word “gerilya.” The word is commonly associated with strategy and struggle.
Here, it describes how affection can quietly make its way into someone’s heart.
Kaleb J explains that the song tells the story of love developing through subtle gestures.
The efforts and sweet actions of someone we like can gradually capture our attention until we eventually fall deeply in love.
While his previous releases often served as soundtracks for heartbreak, “Gerilya Cinta” carries a different purpose.
Kaleb J hopes the single can instead become a soundtrack for people who are experiencing the excitement of falling in love.
A Longstanding Creative Partnership
Belanegara Abe once again joins Kaleb J behind the production of “Gerilya Cinta.”
The two artists have worked together for years. This has helped them build strong creative chemistry.
They can approach each song from different directions while working well together.
For this release, Abe focused more heavily on programming and instrumentation, while Kaleb J concentrated on the vocal arrangement and brass elements.
That division of roles allowed both artists to contribute from their respective strengths while developing the track together.
Kaleb J Expands His Musical Palette
“Gerilya Cinta” also introduces a broader soundscape compared with Kaleb J’s previous releases.
His R&B foundation remains present, but the arrangement incorporates several new elements.
The track features groovy drum beats and basslines, along with synth sounds inspired by Japanese city pop.
Kaleb J also brings R&B elements into the vocal arrangement and adds mouth percussion with a beatbox-inspired approach.
Although Japanese city pop became one of the references for the track’s atmosphere, Kaleb J and Belanegara Abe did not set out to recreate a specific sound.
Instead, they briefly listened to Japanese city pop during the creative process and used it as inspiration for the song’s overall mood.

New Instruments Bring a Fresh Direction
The production also gave Kaleb J an opportunity to experiment with instruments he rarely uses in his previous arrangements.
Among them are brass instruments, which he says he does not often incorporate into his music, as well as mouth percussion inspired by beatboxing.
These additions help give “Gerilya Cinta” a distinct character while allowing Kaleb J to expand beyond the production approach associated with his earlier work.
The single is also not intended to stand alone. “Gerilya Cinta” will become part of an upcoming EP titled “Tanda Cinta.”
Kaleb J Prepares a Rom-Com Music Video
Alongside the single, Kaleb J has also prepared a music video scheduled to arrive one week after the official audio.
The video follows the story established in “Gerilya Cinta” and adopts a romantic comedy concept.
It tells the story of two high school students who are experiencing the excitement of young love.
The visual approach is designed to complement the lighter and more romantic atmosphere introduced through the song.
A New Soundtrack for Falling in Love
Through “Gerilya Cinta,” Kaleb J hopes listeners can experience the same excitement and happiness that come with falling in love.
The single doesn’t focus on heartbreak. Instead, it celebrates those warm, euphoric feelings.
They emerge when someone begins to develop deeper emotions for another person.
Kaleb J hopes the song can eventually become an anthem for anyone experiencing that feeling.
