Prince Kaybee is a legendary South African Afro-house DJ, producer, and television personality.

He joins forces with R&B, Afro-pop, and soul singer-songwriter Ben September for his newest single, “Veliry.”

The track drops on August 21, 2026, via PLAYY. Records.

Kaybee was previously signed to major label Universal Music South Africa.

Since then, he has become one of the genre’s leading ambassadors. He connects its African roots with international audiences.

Platinum-selling hits like “Club Controller,” “Banomoya,” and “Uwrongo,” the latter featured in TIME Magazine’s 10 Best Songs of 2020, have cemented his standing.

Standout collaborations with Lady Zamar, Busiswa, TNS, Shimza, Black Motion, and Ami Faku have further shaped his catalog.

Prince Kaybee continues to define the sound of modern South African dance music.

His previous PLAYY. Records single, “Heno Babayo,” picked up significant international support.

MIXMAG covered the release across Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

YourEDM.com and House Music With Love also featured the single, while UK national radio backed it through KISS XTRA’s The Afro Electronic Show with Larizzle.

In South Africa, IOL and Music In Africa covered the release. It also earned airplay on Metro FM, the country’s largest commercial urban radio station.

YFM in Johannesburg and Good Hope FM in Cape Town played it too.

The Career Trajectory of Prince Kaybee

Kaybee’s rise ran through club circuits before he won the South African DJ search competition 1’s and 2’s in 2015, a breakthrough defined by grit.

He has since collected multiple South African Music Awards (SAMAs), including Male Artist of the Year, Best Dance Album, and Album of the Year.

A Best Dance Album win at the Metro FM Music Awards followed, alongside repeated Song of the Year honours at the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards.

His international recognition solidified further with a Best Collaboration win at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in Nigeria, earned for his single “Gugulethu.”

The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) also recognized him.

Before becoming an award-winning artist, Prince Kaybee, born Kabelo Motsamai, once aspired to a soccer career with Bloemfontein Celtics.

A knee injury cut that path short.

His father’s collection of African classics and traditional jazz shaped his early influences, sparking his passion for music.

In 2015, he rose to fame after winning SABC 1’s DJing and producing competition, Masters of Spin, launching his career in the South African music scene.

He gained further recognition the following year with a nomination for Listener’s Choice at the MTV Africa Music Awards.
