The producer and DJ pushes modern electronic music into new territory with the Cowbell Crusader EP.
He rejects the usual limits of the bass scene. Instead, he builds a dark, heavy sound of his own.
The EP blends the force of dubstep with the grit of phonk.
The mix runs deep. It pulls in 90s Memphis rap, drift phonk, riddim, and tearout. The phonk cowbell sits at the centre of it all.
SAVAS refuses to bury that cowbell in the background. He drives it straight into the basslines.
He calls the approach “cowbell-infused bass design.”
Tracks like Last Man Standing, Sigil Magicka, and Druida each explore a different angle of the idea.
The project even reaches past the music, with a fully playable video game built around Last Man Standing.

‘Last Man Standing’ Becomes a Video Game
The Cowbell Crusader identity reaches well past the audio. SAVAS steps away from standard dubstep visuals.
In their place, he builds a cinematic, heroic, DOOM-inspired world.
For years, people told him his music sounded like a video game soundtrack. He decided to run with it.
So he developed and coded a fully playable game around Last Man Standing.
The game widens the creative world of the EP and links straight to one of its key tracks.
SAVAS Transitioning From Heavy Metal to Electronic Music
SAVAS did not start in electronic music. He came up as a heavy metal musician. He played guitar, bass, and drums, and he sang.
One track changed his path. He discovered Skrillex’s First Of The Year (Equinox) in high school. After that, he pivoted fully toward electronic production.
That journey came full circle in the 2023 festival season.
SAVAS met Skrillex at Elements Music & Arts Festival, alongside inspirations like Subtronics and REZZ.
Later that summer, he opened for GRiZ at an official Electric Zoo afterparty.
The festival’s first day had been cancelled, and the afterparty pulled around 3,000 people looking to keep the weekend alive.
Building a Global Reputation
SAVAS now works out of New York. He has racked up more than 40 million streams.
Big names back him, including Excision, Shaquille O’Neal (DJ Diesel), Borgore, Flux Pavilion, and ARMNHMR.
He has also shared stages with a heavy roster. That list runs through Subtronics, Knife Party, Getter, GRiZ, ZABO, X&G, and 1788-L.
His sets stretch across festivals and borders.
He has played Electric Zoo and Elements Music & Arts Festival, plus international shows in Bhutan and South Korea.
His music has landed on Broke, Tribal Trap, Elysian Records, and Magic Music.
He has even hosted a guest mix on Insomniac Radio’s Impact Radio channel.
The Cowbell Crusader era is far from over. SAVAS has a Cowbell Crusader Remixes EP on the way.
A new Favela Bass release and more international shows follow.
He is also building his own production tool. It already runs in his personal workflow. Down the line, he plans to open the technology to other producers.
