After releasing several singles, Romanssa has now released its debut EP, “Penulis Lagu.”

The six-track project brings together stories from the member’s lives, including experiences that took place long before they came together as a band.

Drummer Bounty Ramdhan explained that the EP reflects the member’s personal experiences and struggles.

The variety of events they have gone through also influenced the different themes explored throughout the release.

Guitarist Joe added that the EP offers different musical experiences across its six tracks.

Romanssa Builds Its Debut EP on Years of Friendship

Romanssa completed the EP within a relatively short period.

The band formed in September 2025, while “Penulis Lagu” arrived in June 2026, meaning the project took around seven months to complete.

However, the short production period was not simply the result of rushing the process.

The members had already known each other for years, giving them a strong foundation before they officially became a band.

Bounty explained that although Romanssa is still a young band, its formation was effectively five years in the making.

Their close friendship and similar perspectives have made it easier for the members to exchange ideas and work together creatively.

Bassist Alex also highlighted how closely the members remain connected outside the studio.

They communicate almost every day and regularly discuss topics beyond music, including films and games.

The group even jokingly refers to their daily routine of spending time together as “going to the office.”

Shared Struggles Shape “Penulis Lagu”

Bounty on drums, Joe and Bonar on guitars, Alex on bass, and Ochin on vocals are connected by more than their shared interests.

Their similar experiences and struggles have also played an important role in shaping Romanssa.

Those experiences become particularly evident in “Penulis Lagu.”

Ochin explained that the song represents the member’s ability to continue making music and supporting themselves through songwriting.

They have managed to stay in music even without producing a viral hit.

The track reflects the band’s determination to remain active in music and continue performing their own material despite the challenges that come with pursuing a career outside the mainstream spotlight.

Romanssa Highlights “Selesai.” as the EP’s Standout Track

For the EP’s main track, Romanssa has chosen “Selesai.”

The song features another close friend of the band, Dennis Ferdinand, marking a collaboration that also comes from their wider circle of friendships.

Ochin explained that “Selesai.” explores the decision to end a relationship after the connection between two people has disappeared.

When both sides no longer share the same effort, walking away can become a better choice than continuing to invest time in something that no longer works.

Romanssa Turns Friendship Into Creative Energy

Beyond its music, “Penulis Lagu” represents the value of the friendship that brought Romanssa together.

The EP also gives the members an opportunity to explore a different musical direction.

The distortion may not be as heavy as the sound found in some of the members’ other bands.

However, Romanssa uses the project to deliver a more direct and honest approach to songwriting.

For Bounty, the band itself carries a unique value because of the history shared by its members.

Their journey began with friendship, continued through a period of separation, and eventually brought them back together to create music as Romanssa.

Romanssa’s “Penulis Lagu” is now available on various digital streaming platforms.
