Change The Beat Pledges 300 Signings by 2028

Change The Beat founder Sydney Blu

Change The Beat has set a new milestone.

The global non-profit wants to secure 300 label opportunities for women and gender expansive electronic artists by 2028.

The organisation supports underrepresented talent across the industry.

Electronic music artist and producer Sydney Blu founded it. She built it around a simple idea: talent alone rarely opens doors.

Change The Beat creates those doors through education, mentorship, live events, and release programmes.

Its goal is direct. It wants more women and gender expansive artists signed to labels, and it wants real routes to get them there.

Change The Beat Scaling the Mission Year by Year

The 300-artist target is only the start. Change The Beat also plans to support 600 artists within five years. Over ten years, it aims to reach 1,500.

The numbers already show traction.

The organisation has facilitated more than 100 label opportunities and signings. It has also built a community of over 1,200 members.

Blu says her career taught her one lesson above all. Talent needs backing.

Artists need mentorship, industry relationships, education, and chances to be heard. She built Change The Beat to provide exactly those pathways.

She adds that the group does more than name the problem. It works on the fix.

The focus stays on real opportunities: every signing, contest win, showcase slot, and introduction pushes the next generation forward.

The project launched in 2021 as 23by23. Native Instruments backed it, and Beatport came on as a partner.

Since then, it has grown into an international artist development platform.

Its alumni now release music with major labels.

That list includes Armada, Drumcode, Anjunadeep, Anjunabeats, Toolroom, Insomniac Records, HE.SHE.THEY, Dirtybird, mau5trap, and REALM.

The Remix Contest and The Demo Room

Change The Beat recently relaunched its flagship Remix Contest Programme.

It will now add The Demo Room. This new initiative widens access to labels and links emerging artists directly with the industry.

The Remix Contest builds on a proven model. It has created official remix and release chances for new artists alongside leading labels.

Since relaunching, it has partnered with SIPPY and DeadBeats. Westend and Sara Landry’s HEKATE Records are lined up next.

Earlier partners run deep.

They include Drumcode, mau5trap, Armada, Anjunadeep, Anjunabeats, HE.SHE.THEY, Insomniac Records, Nervous Records, and Toolroom Records.

Artists tied to the programme have worked on projects involving deadmau5, Nicole Moudaber, Eli & Fur, Crystal Waters, Ultra Naté, Maya Jane Coles, DJ Minx, VNSSA, Giorgia Angiuli, and Azzecca.

The Demo Room adds a new layer. Labels will showcase their sound and A&R priorities.

The community then gets a direct route to submit music, receive feedback, and reach decision-makers.

Blu says the momentum is only building. The group has already helped facilitate more than 100 signings.

The 300 target is ambitious by design, yet she calls it achievable.

Change The Beat creates opportunities every month through the Remix Contest Programme, The Demo Room, and development programmes like Going Global.

Labels, artists, managers, and brands have rallied behind the mission.

Many have discovered strong talent through the community. Blu invites the wider industry to join and build more pathways for the next generation.

The support runs through many formats. Workshops, masterclasses, mentorship, club events, and career programmes all play a part.

Together they cover music production, DJ performance, branding, and the business side.

The organisation keeps growing across the UK, US, Canada, and Europe.

Building a More Inclusive Future

Three efforts now anchor the next phase.

The relaunched Remix Contest Programme, The Demo Room, and the Going Global programme all widen access to labels for women and gender expansive artists.

Change The Beat leans on a growing network of artists, educators, labels, and partners.

It invites the whole electronic music community to back the mission.

The aim is clear: a more inclusive and sustainable future for the next wave of talent.
