After building a reputation through their original music, The Lantis has returned with a tribute to one of the bands that has shaped its musical journey.
On July 24, 2026, the group officially released “(Jangan Terlalu) Posessif,” a new interpretation of Naif’s iconic song.
The track has long been one of The Lantis’ biggest musical influences since the band’s formation.
The Lantis Offers a Fresh Take on a Naif Classic
Instead of completely reworking the arrangement, The Lantis chose to preserve the song’s original identity while presenting it from a new perspective.
Giri explained that the group already shares many musical similarities with Naif.
Moving too far from the original, he said, would also mean moving away from the band’s own identity.
For that reason, the group decided to focus on changing the overall vibe and emotional feel, making the song lighter and groovier.
The new version also introduces elements that were not part of the original recording.
It opens with an additional verse written by producer Vega Antares, creating a new entry point into the story The Lantis wanted to tell.

A Different Emotional Perspective
The Lantis never intended those changes to replace the heart of the original song.
Instead, they were made as a tribute.
The band felt that some parts had become so closely associated with Naif that they deserved to remain untouched.
Rather than altering those defining moments, the group chose to express its own interpretation in other ways.
The new version also presents a different emotional perspective.
The band views the song from a more nuanced perspective, even though people often see the word possessive as entirely negative.
Ojan said the track embraces a sense of acceptance and mixed feelings toward possessiveness.
Instead of judging or justifying the emotion, the song explores it as something that can grow out of deep love.
It is not portrayed as something to celebrate, nor as something to regret completely.
The song creates space for feelings of anxiety, fear of losing someone, and the emotional complexity that often comes with falling deeply in love.
The Lantis Pays Tribute to a Lasting Inspiration
For the group, covering a Naif song carries a deeply personal meaning.
Naif’s music helped shape the band’s musical taste, playing style, and approach to songwriting from the very beginning.
Because of that, “(Jangan Terlalu) Posessif” is more than a cover song. It also serves as a love letter to one of the band’s greatest inspirations.
The single became available on all major digital streaming platforms on July 24, 2026.
A visualizer was also released on The Lantis’ official YouTube channel.
